Hi,
Vemma is one of several versions of the mangosteen juice craze, with added vitamins, aloe, and green tea. While aggressively marketed, the facts do not support any special advantages compared to dietary supplements such as FlavoMax or Vitalizer - supplements proven by science to support health.
Mangosteen juice contains substantial amounts of antioxidant nutrients, just like orange, grape, apple and other fruit juices. For example, while the ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of mangosteen is generally about 500-550/ounce, the USDA rates 3 ½ ounces of an ordinary orange at 750 and 3 ½ ounces of red grapes at 739. A two-capsule serving of Shaklee FlavoMax, alone, has an ORAC value of 5508.
In our view, mangosteen juice, including the Vemma version, is a very expensive way to get antioxidant nutrients that are typically found in several traditional, less expensive fruit juices.
We hope this information is helpful. Feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
